OvationONS™ Laser Navigation Solutions
Cypress's OvationONS™ Laser Navigation Solutions are breakthrough technologies for precision motion-sensing applications. Built around Cypress's patented OptiCheck™ laser technology, these devices offer a variety of performance differentiations, such as high accuracy tracking at high speed, broad surface coverage, and low power.

The product delivers fast, precise, responsive tracking, without the trade-offs between power and performance that characterize traditional image-correlation sensors. OvationONS devices are strategically designed to simplify assembly, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve yield. The sensor IC, vertical-cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL), and laser driver are integrated in a single 8x8 QFN package with a self-aligning snap-on lens.

Laser output power is calibrated before shipment to meet eye-safety standards. Consequently, there's no need for laser handling, laser power calibration, or optical alignment. This greatly reduces customer's manufacturing complexity and equipment costs. Based on Cypress's Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC), the OvationONS II family is the world's first Laser Navigation System-on-Chip (SoC) solution with integrated M8C 24MHz CPU, USB, up to 32K of Flash, programmable timer, ADC and CapSense™.

OvationONS II further enhance OvationONS I's Laser navigation performance along with lower power consumption and smaller form factor. The OvationONS II family targets both wired (USB) and wireless applications. The wired devices feature Full-Speed USB interface and become a mouse-on-chip solution for Human Interface Device (HID) customers.

The wireless devices feature SPI interface for communicating with a nearby radio such as Cypress's WirelessUSB™ LP. The wireless devices integrate boost-converter with 0.8-3.6V Vdd input that enables the device to be powered by a single AA battery.

The intelligent power management system can also supply power to the radio without external voltage regulator, simplifies board design and reduces BOM cost.
